เที่ยว ‘เกาะสีชัง’

ทริปเกาะสีชัง เกิดขึ้นได้เพราะว่าเป็นการ Thanks Staff จากทริปสนุกคาราวานที่ Staff ทั้งหลายทำหน้าที่ได้ดี … ครั้งนี้เป็นครั้งแรกเลยที่มาเที่ยว เกาะสีชัง… แล้วจะบอกว่าประทับใจสุดๆ .. เพราะนอกจากบรรยากาศดี .. ทะเลสวย .. ที่พักสุดแสนโรแมนติก .. เรายังเจอปลาโลมา กระโดดเล่นข้างๆ เรือขากลับอีกด้วย .. ไม่คิดเลยว่า ใกล้กรุงเทพแค่นี้ แต่เราได้บรรยากาศสุดเกินบรรยาย … ที่แน่ๆ ต้องไปอีกรอบ … สัญญา ..

Located some hundreds kilometre east of Bangkok, Koh Si Chang is the most well known and biggest island in Chonburi Province. The island has been in a tourist map since the early 20th century. Covering an area of 18 square kilometers, it is surrounded by small islets; namely Koh Kham Yai, Koh Kham Noi, Koh Prong, Koh Ran Dokmai, Koh Sampan Yeu, Koh Kang Kao, Koh Yai Tao, and Koh Tai Ta Meun.

Koh Sichang was once the summer residence of H.M. King Chulalongkorn, Rama V during the nineteenth century. His House, Gardens and Shrine are well maintained to this day, and are certainly worth a visit.

Koh Sichang is refreshingly low on tourists and offers a tranquil atmosphere to relax you after the rigours of Bangkok. However, the Island does attract many Chinese, for Chinese New Year especially, who come to the Island especially to visit the temple SAKW CHAO PAW KHAO YAI (shrine of the Father Spirit of the Great Hill). Caves to the rear of the Temple are full of religious statues and artifacts.

The Island has an area of 18 square kilometres and has an annual rain fall of 12mm falling mainly between May and November. The temperature ranges between 26°C and 40°C with up to 80% humidity.

Getting to Koh Si Chang
Koh Sichang is reached by ferry from Siracha. The ferry leaves promptly on the hour and costs 30 baht one way. Alternatively you can hire a boat for about 800 baht. Siracha is reached from Bangkok most easily by taxi, about 1,000 - 1,500 baht (from the airport), or much more cheaply by bus. Take the Pattaya bus which leaves the Eastern Bus Terminal 3 times an hour and costs about 70 baht.

There are many buses linking the airport and the Eastern Bus Terminal.
